Only Hope...His!

I must be honest and share that the last couple of months have been quite difficult. I find myself facing challenges that are new (living in a new country) and ones that are deep (continuation of unfortunate family dynamics). Everyday I look around to see many things that don't make sense. I wish I could be perfect and living in an ideal world, but I find neither of those to be true. I'm the farthest thing from perfect, and this world is very broken.

I share words that are not my own, but they resonate deeply and echo the contents of my own heart.

"Only Hope"
by Jon Foreman

There's a song that's inside of my soul
It's the one that I've tried to write
over and over again
I'm awake and in the infinite cold
But You sing to me over and over and
over again

So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands
And pray to be only Yours
I pray to be only Yours
I know now You're my only hope

Sing to me of the song of the stars
Of Your galaxy dancing and laughing
and laughing again
When it feels like my dreams are so far
Sing to me of the plans that You have
for me over again

I give You my apathy
I'm giving You all of me
I want Your symphony
Singing in all that I am
At the top of my lungs I'm giving it back

  1. This is a beautiful song. Jon Foreman's honest poetic writing is what has kept me interested in Switchfoot all these years, and in his own solo work. It is definitely a great song for you. God bless.

  2. that song is a definite favorite.. i hope to go to a wedding someday & it's playing as the bride walks down the isle. i have the whole thing choreographed in my head. i'm sure that shocks you ;)
i am so thankful that the Lord gave us music to speak in a language that only our heart can understand. and i am so thankful that it can bring a beautiful moment of peace when you hear it.
    love you, mags!
